People’s sonic boom surprise caught on camera

People’s response to a sonic boom heard throughout the East of England has been caught on camera.

It occurred after a Typhoon plane took off from RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire to escort a aircraft to Stansted Airport as a result of it had misplaced communications at about 13:05 GMT.

People in Cambridgeshire, Essex and components of London posted movies on social media, with one individual heard asking if it was thunder.

Heather Eastlake, who was filming herself exercising close to Cambridge, described her response as being like “a deer in the highlights”.
